A HUGE demand for vintage and retro gear has prompted a charity shop in Whitley Bay to start up a new line of business.
Barnardo's shop in Park View, Whitley Bay, is hoping to develop its vintage side to meet a big demand from students and fashion conscious youngsters, clamouring for retro glamour. Heather Butler from Barnardo's in Whitley Bay said: "We were asked about vintage clothes and realised there's a big demand out there, especially from students.
"Anything vintage or retro is incredibly popular at the moment and we are looking to build up our stocks."
Heather is looking for clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery from any era in fashion - some of which may have been in storage for years.
Clothes from the 70s and 80s are in big demand at the moment, but 60s, 50s and 40s clothes are regarded as classic, timeless pieces that never go out of fashion.
Heather added: "Anyone with any clothes, shoes or accessories to donate from any era up to the 90s will receive a very warm welcome from us."
